‘International Congress on Occupational Health and Safety in Electricity Distribution’ was held with the theme of New Approaches for Distribution” on 24-25 February 2016 in Antalya, in cooperation with ELDER and International Social Security Association (ISSA), which is a sub-organisation of the International Labour Organization (ILO).
Mükremin Çepni, General Director of TEDAŞ, made the opening remarks for the 2-day long congress and stated that they specified the work processes in electricity distribution sector as a result of the activities conducted with the Vocational Qualifications Authority and ELDER and added that the required human portfolio would be determined for these business processes. Uğur Yüksel, Secretary General for ELDER, emphasised that they give priority to occupational health and safety and human resources and education as ELDER and stated that they carried out many activities in these areas to contribute to the sector, its members and the employees. Jens Juhling, Technical Secretary for International Social Security Association (ISSA), which is a sub-organisation of International Labour Organization (ILO), stated that “Occupational accidents resulting in death cannot be accepted. Accidents resulting in deaths should not take place anywhere. That must be our goal. That must be our vision.”
